If you have ever spent any amount of time customizing a wordpress theme just to lose it to a wordpress upgrade then this tip is for you.

Before installing an update to wordpress and risk losing any of the customization you may have done try reverting to the default theme. Do the upgrade and then switch back to the customized wordpress theme. (Remember to always do a backup on your WordPress before updating)
